25,000 families served – Feeling the Joy

TO DATE – 253,320 ESSENTIAL PRODUCTS HAVE BEEN DELIVERED TO PUBLIC SCHOOL EMERGENCY SITES IN BOSTON, LOWELL, LAWRENCE, SPRINGFIELD & NASHUA

As our front line staff describes it every time they come back from the weekly deliveries of essential products, it has been a heart-warming experience. We get to see the faces of our community volunteers as well as the children and families we serve at each public school emergency site across MA & NH light up when they see our Catie’s Closet truck pulling in. You can also feel the joy when toiletries are handed out as beneficiaries are so appreciative and touched by the outpouring of support from their community.

In these times we are constantly asking ourselves how to make our days count? What can we do to help ourselves, our families and for others? What we see is an outpouring of  community kindness and unwavering support.

A few weeks ago, I met Matthew over the phone. He is a new supporter, who had never been involved nor even aware about our organization before. He decided to start his involvement with a very generous gift. I reached out to him to thank him and this is what he shared:

“I first heard about Catie’s Closet while reading Jessica Heslam’s column in the Boston Herald.  When I decide to give to charities, more often than not I am choosing groups that help children.  I was inspired by the article and decided to check out the website, and I am glad that I did.  Catie’s Closet is providing essentials to those who need it the most, and have difficulty in finding the assistance they need.  Their program is a common-sense solution to a very difficult problem.  The additional work being done during the Covid-19 health crisis is amazing as well.  I decided to support this wonderful organization, and will continue to do so.  I have encouraged others to check the program out as well, in hope of spreading the word about this great organization.” Matthew Harrington, Assistant General Manager, Grill 23 & Bar

Our organization is truly honored to meet Matthew and to engage such thoughtful and receptive new supporters. Mathew represents the voice of many of our donors who not just take financial action to advance our mission but help us to spread the word about the urgent needs of the people we serve just like all of you do.

Thanks to all of our incredible network of  long-term supporters, this week  Catie’s Closet was has delivered 186,040 units of basic necessities to the Boston schools emergency sites. Our school partners in Lowell have received 38,788 units; Lawrence received 19,904 units, Springfield 3,632 units and Nashua 4,938. As of today, we have been able to help 25,000 students and families struggling due to the Pandemic by delivering a total of 253,320 essential products across  MA & NH.
