Any day of the year is a great day to give to those around you, but there is one special day that celebrates generosity across the world. This day is “Giving Tuesday”.
What is Giving Tuesday?
Introduced in 2012, Giving Tuesday is the world’s “largest generosity movement” that takes place on the Tuesday after Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
After millions of people spend two days hitting their favorite stores for the must-have items of the year and scouring online retailers for the best deals, Giving Tuesday kicks off the season of giving.
It’s one day we can all join together as a human species to do good for one another, instill hope for a unified future, and demonstrate the power of true generosity for our younger generations.
When is Giving Tuesday?
This year, we will celebrate on December 3, 2024.
Why does Giving Tuesday matter to Catie’s Closet?
Our organization is built and sustained on the generosity of our community members. We rely heavily on the community’s support to continue providing students in poverty with critical clothing, toiletries, and other basic necessities they need to succeed.
Giving Tuesday is an opportunity for our dedicated advocates and community members we have yet to meet to join in unified support to better the futures of our students.
“I believe we are each tasked with being thoughtful stewards of the blessings we are given and using our finances to invest in organizations that make significant differences in the less fortunate in our communities – is a perfect way. The organization is filled with heart driven servants – who truly care, respect and love others. This is why we choose to continuously support Catie’s Closet – to acknowledge and encourage their heart driven mission.” – Steve & Karen Abbey, Giving Tuesday donors
This Giving Tuesday, help Catie’s Closet outfit 500 children in the most critical need of support!
Your $50 donation on Giving Tuesday will provide one child with the clothing and essentials they need most. Our goal is to outfit 500 children who are waiting for support.
Poverty, homelessness, and other crisis situations stand in these children’s way of adequate access to life’s most basic necessities, impacting their education, self-esteem, and overall well-being.
You can help a child in your community who needs support on Giving Tuesday.
How can you give to Catie’s Closet on December 3rd?
You can support Catie’s Closet on Giving Tuesday in a few different ways!
- Give a monetary donation. Every $50 donation outfits one child in need. Our goal is to outfit 500 children in the most critical need.
- Host an online peer-to-peer fundraiser and expand your impact even further by encouraging your friends and family to give.
- Request that your company match your donation to double the difference you make! Select your company in the donation form or speak with your HR department to find out how your company can match your gift. Reach out to bethany@catiescloset.org with any questions.
Why should you give to Catie’s Closet on Giving Tuesday?
When you give on Giving Tuesday, you take part in a global movement. You make a statement that generosity matters. You change lives. You make a difference. This is true whether you use your hard-earned money, your time, your talent, your kindness, or your voice.
When you give to Catie’s Closet on Giving Tuesday, you will give students in need the gift of warm clothing, boots, and basic winter gear to help them weather the long New England winter.
When they have access to these essential items, they can confidently and comfortably participate in school and in life, keep their motivation to learn, and feel reassured there are people who care about their well-being and future success. To Catie’s Closet, your Giving Tuesday participation is so much more than a financial contribution.
“Giving Tuesday is such an important day of support as we approach the holidays. Catie’s Closet provides much needed clothing and toiletries to children of all ages, helping build confidence and self-esteem at a time when many are faced with difficulty and sadness. Catie’s Closet supports children all year long and your generosity is especially important at this time. Please be generous on Giving Tuesday!” – Ellen Andre, Giving Tuesday donor
